Here's how this workshop stands as a cornerstone for young innovators and storytellers ready to make their mark in the digital age and beyond.

All aspiring TJ applicants are required to take two types of essays

  • 1 TJ Math or Science Problem Solving Essay
  • 2 TJHSST Student Portrait Sheet

Both essays are timed and require math and science middle school content knowledge, well-developed essay writing skills, time management, and test-taking skills.

Getting into a competitive school takes a lot of planning, preparation, and goal setting. The contents of the TJ Student Portrait Sheet are like college essay preparation, where students need to angle their essays to show their values and background.

In addition to the TJ Math or Science Problem Solving Essay, the students will need to learn a different type of essay writing genre because they will be given four prompts demonstrating the FCPS Portraits of a Graduate in the form of the TJ Student Portrait Sheet.
