Dr. Dawn Hathway
Dr. Dawn Hathaway brings over 25 years of experience in education across healthcare, corporate, higher education, and P-12 settings. As a national leader in learning design and digital pedagogy, she focuses on empowering teachers to design instruction that leverages technology for real-world problem-solving, literacy, and future-ready learning.
At George Mason University, Dr. Hathaway teaches and designs cutting-edge courses in blended, online, and face-to-face formats. She has led international initiatives to build digital teaching capacity in over 40 countries and is a recipient of the George Mason University (GMU) Teaching Excellence Award.
Her research explores innovative learning models, design thinking in teacher education, and the quality of digital learning experiences. She co-authored “Understanding Problems of Practice: A Case Study in Design Research” and holds an Open GATE fellowship, supporting global collaboration in teacher education.
An active voice in the field, Dr. Hathaway holds leadership roles in significant education research associations and serves on editorial boards for top journals in educational technology. She earned her PhD and MEd in Instructional Technology from George Mason University.
