The Naglieri® General Ability Tests (NGAT®) are a series of cognitive assessments used to identify gifted learners.

The Three Core Sections of the NGAT®

Verbal (Naglieri–V)

Analyze sets of images to identify which object doesn’t belong based on conceptual categories—no reading or language skills required.

Quantitative (Naglieri–Q)

Identify numeric patterns and interpret symbol-based relationships using visual reasoning—no math terminology, written instructions, or traditional calculations required.

Nonverbal (Naglieri–NV)

Detect spatial relationships, complete visual matrices, and solve abstract shape-based puzzles—featuring a broader range of visual reasoning tasks than traditional nonverbal tests.

Our NGAT® Prep Class isn’t just test practice — it’s a guided journey to strengthen how your child thinks, reasons, and problem-solves.

Over six weeks, students will build confidence and exposure in:

Verbal Reasoning
– Categorizing, visual analogy, and concept abstraction strategies

Quantitative Reasoning
– Pattern recognition, symbolic puzzles, and number logic

Nonverbal Reasoning
– Visual-spatial reasoning, sequencing, patterns, symmetry, and matrix logic

Each lesson is carefully aligned with the NGAT® test structure, mirroring the test format and reasoning challenges students will face. We’ve curated high-impact focus lessons, engaging visual materials, timed practice sets, and supportive parent tools to build skill mastery every step of the way.

Self-Paced

The Masterpiece Academy’s Self-Paced NGAT Prep and Enrichment Class is designed for busy families who want flexible and effective test preparation.

This class includes recorded instructional videos, focused skill-building lessons, interactive quizzes, and full-length NGAT® practice tests. It’s perfect for students with limited time who still want to strengthen their verbal, quantitative, and nonverbal reasoning skills at their own pace.

The Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) testing window is from October 14 to November 14, 2025. Please ask the Assistant Principal in your building regarding the exact date of testing administration in your child's school.
