This year's FIRST® LEGO® League challenge is UNEARTHED. This season, students will learn about people and things of the past. During the season, they will explore the theme and ideas, create and test solutions, and share what they’ve created and learned with others.

Frequently Asked Questions
Because our teams progress together, we’re unable to offer makeups or refunds for missed sessions. However, Masterpiece Academy provides a robust Learning Management System (LMS) through which students can access lesson summaries, challenge breakdowns, resources, and updates, enabling them to catch up independently and stay aligned with their team.
Yes, during the competitions and field trips. Teams typically attend a regional tournament and may qualify for additional events within Virginia. The Masterpiece Academy will share all travel information, timelines, and preparation details well in advance through our LMS and parent communication channels. Travel fees, entrance fees, and the rest are on your own.
Yes. Tuition covers the regular season up through the regional tournament. If a team advances to state or world-level competitions, additional fees apply for extended coaching, preparation, and travel.
- Each team includes 3 to 7 students guided by an experienced Masterpiece Academy coach who supports technical learning, teamwork, and project development.
Competition organizers release dates closer to the season. As soon as they’re announced, we’ll notify families and post all key details inside the LMS for easy access.
Students only need a water bottle and an optional light, nut-free snack. The Masterpiece Academy programs are strictly nut-free to maintain a safe environment for all participants.

To enroll in Dual Enrollment through The Masterpiece Academy, students must:
- Be entering 11th or 12th grade
- Have a minimum unweighted GPA of 3.0
- Be motivated for independent study with mentorship support.
- Submit required documentation and academic readiness indicators.
Part-time students only need to submit unofficial records; full-time students must submit official records.
Please note: Students must be between the ages of 14 and 19 to participate in Dual Enrollment courses.

Full-time students who complete high school through The Masterpiece Academy’s LUOA affiliate are eligible for a 15% tuition discount when they enroll in Liberty University’s Online undergraduate programs.
