Join us on February 8  from 5:00–6:30 PM for a powerful, hands-on parent workshop that teaches you exactly how to support your child’s reading and writing at home.

This interactive sessionled by a National Board Certified Reading Specialist, provides parents with the tools, strategies, and confidence to strengthen literacy skills in K–8 learners.


What Parents Will Learn

You’ll walk away with doable, research-based strategies you can use immediately — no teaching background required.

Reading Comprehension Strategies
  • How to help your child understand what they read

  • Question stems to ask before, during, and after reading

  • How to teach main idea, inferencing, and key details

  • What grade-level reading should look like (with examples)

Writing Support Strategies
  • How to guide your child in writing clear sentences & paragraphs

  • Simple techniques to strengthen details, vocabulary, and structure

  • Age-appropriate writing expectations K–8

  • How to help without “taking over” their writing

Phonics & Phonemic Awareness Strategies (Younger Students)
  • How to support decoding and spelling at home

  • Sound blending, segmenting, and manipulation techniques

  • The phonics patterns kids must know by grade

  • How to correct mistakes without frustration


Hands-On Parent Practice

During the workshop, parents will:

  • Practice reading comprehension prompts

  • Try phonics and phonemic awareness activities

  • Use writing scaffolds and sentence starters

  • Learn exactly how to model skills for their children

You’ll leave with practical tools you can use the SAME DAY.
